Bali 2014: Day Eleven – Last minute Ubud

Monday 17 November 2014:

Our second last morning in Ubud, tomorrow we will head down to Sanur for the next part of our holiday.  Today was a nothing planned day, pick up any last minute shopping “essentials” and just relaxing.

First things first though time for Breakfast.  Another great breakfast, pancakes, fried egg on toast and fruit plates.  I can’t believe people have complained online about this breakfast not being enough food – there are plenty of things to get you fuelled up for the day ahead of you (plus have you got a hint yet Ubud has plenty of food).

Breakfast at Gerhana Sari - Pancakes.

Today was a pretty casual day really so I will save you too much details – we did stop in at Coco’s Supermarket up the top of Jl. Hanoman near the start of Monkey Forest Road.

We stopped for some drinks at the Arma Café – nice little restaurant attached to the front of the Arma Museum.  We were really just killing some time till lunch as we decided to head to Taco Casa.  Lunch at Taco Casa was fabulous again – started with Guacamole and Chips, and the Cheesy Enchilada washed down with a couple of Mojito’s.  All up for about Rp. 250k.

After lunch we headed home – I stopped off and grabbed a massage at Samsara just nextdoor to Gerhana Sari, not a bad massage for Rp. 70k.

AFTERNOON TEA

So our last afternoon in Ubud – I left our last afternoon tea in the hands of my darling wifey – so yep we ended up at Caramel again!  I think we had pretty much worked our way through the entire display case by now – the staff were pretty impressed that we had been in every single day.

Tri Choc - Amazing dessert so decadent.

Phillys - A Philly Cheesecake - covered in a "jellylike" substance - not like your traditional cheesecake but pretty tasty

Washed down again with another Vietnamese Drip Coffee – total was about Rp. 160k.  I can’t tell whether Danielle was sad to be leaving Ubud tomorrow or sad to be leaving Caramel…..

Before we headed home we decided to head up past the Palace and go for a bit of a “Dora” walk again, sorry we were in a totally relaxed walking mood and kind of forgot to take any pictures!

DINNER

After our walk we decided to grab an early dinner – we had seen a Warung the other night down a side alley off Monkey Forest Road called – Warung Garasi.  It is a funky little warung set in an old motorcycle repair garage.

Run by a lovely family - the meals are prepared fresh and really tasty.

We opted for the Nasi Goreng - the kitchen being open meant you get a birds eye view of it being prepared. Seriously tasty meals!

Love the awesome bar stools! What else would you do with an old Moped scooter?

Lovely family homestyle warung – great vibe about the place – meals are also very cheap, we had 2 Nasi Gorengs and two rounds of drinks each and it came to about Rp. 110k – that is seriously good value for the quality of the food.

After dinner we headed back home to “pack” – moving off to Sanur tomorrow.  We have absolutely loved our time in Ubud, and will definitely go back to Gerhana Sari 2 Bungalows.  Sorry for a short blog post today – it was really a quiet time and well we just wanted to kick back and relax.
