Trip Report Asia 2013: Day 27: Reality Bites–Back Home
Didn’t even get the benefit of a sleep in this morning – we needed to be at the airport early for our flight. Check-out from the hotel at 6:30am in the morning! Cab to the Airport.
Flight to the Gold Coast was pretty full – we decided this time to try the daytime flight rather than the night flight, that way we land at about 8pm rather than 7am.
KL LCCT was pretty good this morning, not many people – through immigration reasonably quickly.
Flight due to land at 8:10pm – landed pretty close to time – I think around 8:30pm. This is then when the reality of Australian efficiency and service hits in – Baggage Handlers took forever, over an hour waiting for our bags – then to stand in the ridiculous Customs line, another hour and a half waiting to get to the front of the Customs line only to be told to just go straight to the exit! Argh! It took us over 2 hours to get out of that airport – which in itself wouldn’t be an issue had it not been for the fact that KL LCCT only takes about an hour!
Ok Sorry – Rant Over!
We grabbed a Wotif Mystery Hotel tonight to save us driving home to Brisbane tonight, which I am glad we did because with all the delays getting out of the airport we didn’t get the hire car till about 10:45pm and I would have hated to drive home that late.
The hotel ended up being the Crown Plaza Broadbeach, not the latest or the greatest down the gold coast but it had a hot shower and a comfy bed which was all that we needed. After a shower we both just crashed.
So that is officially the end of this holiday – it has been an amazing time, 27 days! Usually at the end of a holiday there is a slight sense of relief to be back home, no in this case we are both totally heartbroken to be home, we have both accepted the fact that we are destined to spend the better part of our lives in Bali and Asia as often as we can!
Thank you to all the people who have been following along on this blog – I appreciate you sticking with my bad writing this long and I hope you have got something out of following along with us. I also want to thank all those who have helped me with tips and suggestions on places to go and eat. Especially want to thank Anna who has a great Bali Blog over at Anna’s Ventures. Well worth a look if you want to learn a little more about Bali.
See you all again soon – our next trip is planned for June next year – surprise surprise we are returning to Bali – so thanks again and see you next year.
