Trip Report Asia 2013: Day 26: Last dash through Kuala Lumpur

We treated ourselves to a sleep in this morning, given the time we got in last night (or was it this morning?).  Still didn’t want to miss out on breakfast up at the Cedar on 15 restaurant here at the Impiana KLCC.

This is the outdoor area, you can sit out here and have your breakfast – it isn’t air-conditioned but helps to prepare you to the outdoor climate….

After breakfast we headed up to Bukit Bintang to change some money – the Western Union money changer seemed to have consistently the best rate throughout our time in KL.  We jumped on the Monorail and headed down to Maharajaella Station to check out the Petaling Street markets again, I wanted to stock up on a few more genuine t-shirts.

When we got there the markets were still setting up so the vendors were not in full swing yet, we ducked off behind the stalls and found the Tang City Food Court.  This is a really cool little food centre – and no matter what time of the day it is there is always time for Roti Canai and Ice Milo!

If you get a chance when you are wandering around Petaling Street, check this place out, really authentic honest food at amazing prices.  Why you would eat at the Golden Arches or the Fried Chicken place I don’t know!

After our mid-morning snack we stocked up on Polo Shirts and headed back to Bukit Bintang.  I stopped off and got a massage while the wife went to Sungei Wang to do some shopping – or what I was later told as “reconnaissance” for a shopping trip next year – apparently an hour isn’t long enough for a good shop of Sungei Wang!

My massage was with the Best Friend Foot Massage & Health Therapy they are on Jalan Bukit Bintang just down the road from Sungei Wang (No. 73 for those who can manage to find street addresses in Bukit Bintang).

On the way back to the hotel we stopped off again at UniQlo as well as Pavillion.

This is just to show the men reading this – this is just the Map of the Food and Beverage parts of this shopping centre – ie. if there are that many food outlets you know how many clothing stores there are! Run and hide! Or sit at a bar!

Dinner tonight – well there was only ever going to be one option – Jalan Alor! We were there pretty early and the place we wanted to go to was closed so we ended up at Restaurant Sun Chui Yuen. IMG_2592

The food was really well presented and tasty – the Satay Sticks!

Salt and Pepper Squid!

And you guessed it – Prawns – I don’t know what in the heck that stuff on the top of the prawns is but it tastes amazing!!!!!

I can give Sun Chui Yuen our tick of approval – the meals were amazing – and at this point I can now officially state we have not had a bad meal this entire holiday – 26 days of great Breakfasts, Lunches, Dinners, Snacks etc.  Everything has been amazing – some things better than others but everything well cooked and tasty and everything at a fraction of what I would pay back home!

We finished off the evening back at Suria KLCC to watch the water fountain light show as well as the magnificent Twin Towers lighting up.

We had put it off as long as we could – time to head back to the hotel to pack! the final time on this holiday.   It has been a great trip and neither of us wants to mention the fact that we have to head home tomorrow.
