Trip Report Asia 2013: Day 25: Bye Bye Bali–Hello KL
Last morning in Bali – never a joyful occasion. It is funny how much we have fallen in love with this place over the past 2 years. Never thought I would be the person to like Bali but boy was I wrong.
We got up and finished packing – our bags pretty much at stretching point. We had been pretty reserved this holiday, mainly buying clothing and things we actually “needed” which is a strange concept I know.
After breakfast at the hotel we bid goodbye to our friends as they headed off to the airport. We walked down the road to Hardy’s Supermarket so we could stock up on any last minute essential products (eg. Milo Bites!).
Went across the road to a Massage place called Angels it was pretty good. The wife got a hair treatment and I got a massage. They were very professional and knew there stuff. Very nice.
A last walk along the beachfront and we ended up back at the Sanur Beach Market Bar and Restaurant for our last Bali lunch meal.
No prize for guessing the wife’s order – PRAWNS. I actually broke from tradition and tried the Ribs (they were amazing – although those prawns did look pretty darn tasty).
We walked back to the hotel and grabbed a taxi driver off the street to take us to the Airport – 150k for the trip, couldn’t be bothered seeing if that could be haggled down – 150k was reasonable. The trip to the airport was pretty good all things considered.
The APEC Conference had been going on in Nusa Dua at this time so the delegates and all their associated hanger’s on were leaving meaning the airport was an absolute mess – flights cancelled and delayed. We were crossing our fingers with hope that we would get through ok.
By Bali standards the airport was a dream, no lines at check-in, no lines at immigration – straight through in a minimum of time. We were leaving out of the “old” Bali airport, the new one has opened but not for AirAsia flight departures so we didn’t get to check that out.
Flight was only delayed by an hour which wasn’t too bad considering some people had 18 hour delays yesterday.
Arrived in KL and set a new record at the KL Low Cost Terminal, from flight landing to sitting in the taxi was 40minutes! That is amazing. Might have something to do with the fact that it is nearly midnight by the time we hit the hotel. Thankfully they upgraded us to a nicer room which is always nice.
Off to bed now – might treat ourselves to a sleep in tomorrow.
Thanks for reading along with us on this holiday – we hope you have been enjoying our blog. Please feel free to leave us a comment to let us know what you think of it.
Thanks and see you tomorrow.
